Mike Kolleth is the President and CEO of the Saginaw Art Museum and Temple Theatre. He is a retired Dow executive and served as a vice president of friends of Theodore Roethke for more than a decade.
Over more than a quarter century, he has compiled what is considered to be the most extensive and important collection of literary and bibliophilic material related to Theodore Roethke in private hands.
His collection includes more than 500 books, photos, manuscripts, letters, recordings and personal items related to the poet. It was recently featured in Fine Books and Collections magazine.
The primary focus of the collection is one-of-a-kind material that has relevance to the poet’s life and work. It features books exchanged between Roethke and more than 30 Pulitzer prize winners and poet laureates.
In this hands-on, audience-participation presentation, Mike uses historic artifacts and bibliographic materials to tell the story of Roethke’s life and discuss the impact of his work on generations of artists.
