About the event:
In this workshop, published poet and former Michigan Creative Writing Teacher of the Year Jared Morningstar will lead participants through an exploration of spoken word poetry in an attempt to discover what makes the art form so powerful. Stylistic choices will be discussed, as will content that often creates memorable spoken word poems. Sometimes, it’s the political, and sometimes, it’s the personal, but it’s always passionate. Participants will engage in a discussion of spoken word poems, generate their own works, and, finally, be given an opportunity to share and give feedback to others.
