Join us for an in-person generative storytelling workshop and reading with RS Deeren.
This special event will begin with a writing workshop held from 2:00–3:45 p.m. capped at 12 people. Participants will discuss narrative techniques, do some prompt-based writing, and share reflections.
Then, participants will be invited to join in a reading that is free and open to the public from 4:00–5:00 p.m., so be sure to invite your friends and family!
About RS Deeren
A native "Thumbody" from Caro, Michigan, RS Deeren is an assistant professor of creative writing at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee. His debut collection, Enough to Lose, won a 2024 Michigan Notable Book Award and a 2024 Midwest Book Silver Award. His fiction, nonfiction, and poetry have appeared in periodicals including The Great Lakes Review, Joyland, Midwestern Gothic, and more. While a student at Saginaw Valley State University, he worked as a line cook, landscaper, lumberjack, and substitute teacher. He earned his MFA from Columbia College Chicago and his PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Read more about him and his most recent book, Enough to Lose.
