Please join us May 25 at 7:00 p.m. for the fourth and final installment of our Spring Reading Series event: “A Field Guide to the Poetry of Theodore Roethke,” celebrating the new book of essays on Roethke's poetry edited by William Barillas and published by Ohio University Press. The May 25 event features William Barillas speaking about Roethke's poem "Once More, The Round."

About William Barillas

Born and raised in Flint, Michigan, William Barillas earned a Bachelors in English at the University of Michigan, and both a Masters and a Doctorate at Michigan State University. He has been a professor at colleges in Michigan, New Jersey, and Wisconsin. His publication includes poems in journals and two chapbooks, as well as scholarly and literary essays in peer-reviewed journals and reference volumes. Previous to A Field Guide to the Poetry of Theodore Roethke, he wrote The Midwestern Pastoral: Place and Landscape in Literature of the American Heartland, also from Ohio University Press. He is the recipient of a Fulbright Fellowship to Ecuador and the MidAmerica Award for Distinguished Contributions to the Study of Midwestern Literature, and serves on the editorial and executive boards of the Society for the Study of Midwestern Literature.
